This week as the final episodes of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice air on NBC Television, entrepreneurial finalist Brande Roderick will escape the Trump Tower to emcee the 50th Anniversary of the Playboy Playmate of the Year event at The Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Consumed by the intellectual demands of Celebrity Apprentice, Roderick, who was named as Playmate of the Year in 2000, contacted Blackman Rakowitz Public Relations to help construct her speech.
In particular, Brande asked BR Public Relations CEO Cindy Rakowitz how to eloquently yet succinctly introduce Hugh M. Hefner at the event. Cindy told her that the optimal way in which to describe Hef would be that he created social networking before anyone knew of the phenomenon as it thrives and is used in vernacular today. Hef knew how to foster a community and engage a dedicated fan-base in ways that were easily incorporated into the cutting-edge technology of the time. Fifty five years ago he has shaped the relevance of his brand to align with the fluidity of any new technological window.
Branding is not about the latest fad in technology, but about creating a product that connects to its audience wherever the audience may congregate. Whether through a 10 page magazine article, 140-character Twitter updates, or a segment on a television news program, if a company can create a brand and concurrently engage the community it impacts, it will maintain the passionate connections to its consumers.. At Blackman Rakowitz Public Relations, we are keenly aware of the intersectionality of brands, their audiences, and the media platforms with which the audience connects and interacts. We help our clients explicitly define where their audience lies – and today, we recognize the value of growing and sustained communities that spend many of their waking hours on social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn.
Blackman Rakowitz Public Relations has a lot of experience in branding and marketing in the physical world. Social networking has added new value to conventional public relations—and we are proud to be enthusiasts.
