Dmitri Hvorostovsky

Dmitri Hvorostovsky

Our first classical music client was legendary Russian baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, who we began working with in 1994 shortly after he won the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and joined the roster of Philips Records.

BR|PR introduced Hvorostovsky to the U.S. and North American markets and represented him for over two decades, securing a broad spectrum of high-profile media exposure that included, but went far beyond, traditional classical music coverage.

Throughout Hvorostovsky’s illustrious career, we supported his performances at the nation’s top opera houses, concert halls and festivals, as well as multiple tours across the US and North America. BRPR Co-Founder Diane Blackman frequently traveled with the artist for important bookings and, working closely with his manager Mark Hildrew of Askonas Holt in the UK, played a pivotal role in helping to cultivate Hvorostovsky’s career.

Always looking to gain exposure in new arenas for our artists, BRPR approached PBS and secured a film based on Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”, in which Hvorostovsky performed both Giovanni and Leporello. The film was broadcast on PBS “Great Performances” in the U.S., throughout Europe and Japan and featured in festivals internationally, garnering numerous awards.

With our help, Hvorostovsky achieved the fame and adulation usually reserved for rock stars, while taking his rightful place among the world’s great baritones.
